“Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more!”
The Grinch was a wise, grumpy soul. The holiday season is often stressful and cumbersome as everyone dashes to the shopping mall while others spend hours searching the Internet for the best deals. Sure, it’s a great feeling to give gifts, but we stop living in the present when we search for the perfect, well, present.
This December, we are challenging each other and each of you to participate in our acts of kindness. We searched long and hard to find a calendar that fit our ideals for kindness acts and came to the conclusion we needed to create our own. Why? The calendar shouldn’t end at Christmas. We’re reminded of the lesson of giving in the holidays but treating people we meet will extend beyond twenty-five days in a month so each month, we’ll offer a new challenge to make that month a month of kindness.
Since some of these take planning and scheduling, we understand people need to be flexible. For instance, maybe tomorrow you write a letter to someone who impacted your life and you spend Saturday cleaning out your bookcases or closets. Maybe you double up or skip a day. That’s okay. Just try to complete a task a day to make the world a kinder, better place.
Each task will make a difference in someone’s life and that’s the key. Just think if you are kind 365 days a year, you could impact 365 people. Wow! Now that’s a statistic I can support!
We wish you great success in your December challenge and hope you’ll share your stories on our blog or Facebook page by using #SisterAOK. We wish you a season filled with acts of kindness and a happy heart!
